Nadal For President: D.C. Ready For Rafa At The 2021 Citi Open

The 20-time Grand Slam champion and tennis legend has officially joined the field for The Citi Open in Washington D.C. The Citi Open is one of the premier hard court events in The United States. The tournament is no stranger to tennis legends, with historic champions like Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi. The fans in D.C. are some of the best in America, and the crowd will be louder than ever when Nadal takes the court.

Nadal has not played a match since his loss to Djokovic at Roland Garros. The “King of Clay’ missed the grass court season, including Wimbledon, citing a need to heal his body and recover. Rafa has also opted out of participating in the Tokyo Olympics. The hard courts of The Citi Open will be a great test for the tennis gladiator’s return, as the schedule approaches one of his favorite slams, The U.S. Open.

The 2021 Citi Open will take place from July 31st to August 8th. As of writing, Rock Creek Park Tennis Center will be allowed to have spectators at 50% of capacity. Last year’s Citi Open was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
